Hi! I currently have an older Logan 2-horse slant bp w/tack room. I really don't need to haul a 2nd horse although I really like having some sort of tack room. I think my trailer is steel. Is there a lighter trailer out there? Should I be looking at aluminum trailers? I am on a strict budget (I'm horse poor LOL!) so I'll be looking for used.

Well, most of the time it looks like the 2H steel and the 2H aluminum are very similar in weight. The aluminum starts to save weight as you get bigger. The aluminum is often wider, so may pull harder as it is pushing more wind.

I had a Trailet composite and currently have a Featherlite same configuration, 2 horse straight load with a DR. Both had ramps and tail curtain doors. The Trailet weighed 900 lbs more.

I would hightly recommend avoiding trailers like Brenderup if you live in the States as there are few if any dealers here in the US for that type of trailer that being said if your trailer needs work, and if it is a Brenderup it will because they company has not been doing business here in the US in since 2011. These trailers are build using very proprietary parts that are not readily available in the US, most dealers here dont have the skills to work on them. Getting parts here is a very laboroius and expensive process. The floors are all marine grade plywood that is basically glued to the frame and the fiber glass is rivited on afterwards. Very few 9 year old trailers have wood floors that i would trust, add to that the fact that these are plywood lessens my faith in them. then on top of that no one here, at least in my area of California works on them, and you have a very expensive project on your hands.
