Dear Friends,
Looking to upgrade our 2007 3 Horse Kiefer Built 9' LQ to something larger/better. Interested in only 4 Star, Bloomer or Cimarron 4 Horse with 11' LQ or greater w/slide out. Does anyone have any insight into what the story is on the plethora of 2006 4 Star LQ models ? It seems to be that of all the 4 Star 4 Horse LQ available, 4 out of 5 are model year 2006.   Was there something (defect) that happened with 2006's and prior to that model year that is making people list them in abundance ? It seems unusual that there is not a wider model year span when searching for 4 Star 4 Horse >11' LQ w/ Slide-Outs. We are looking at the price range of $ 65,000.00 or less as I don't want to write a check for more than that. Thanks in advance.

4Star may have produced a lot of trailers that year because at the time the economy, and thus the horse industry, was still booming. The economy tanked in 2007/2008 and you started to see many less heavily built, economy type trailers entering the market.

4Star builds a great trailer, as well as manufacturers like C & C, Elite, Hart and Platinum. A couple other great companies that are not as well known but of the same quality would be Twister, Eby and Jamco. Try expanding your search to more companies of the same quality, and you should be able to find something that suits you needs.

The reason you might not find as many for sale in other years is people are hanging on to the great quality trailers longer. Prices have jumped significantly in the last few years, and quality of the newer trailer does not seem to have kept up with the prices. For example, I have a 2006 Elite. It is paid for, meets my needs and is still in very good condition. I could upgrade and take on a payment, but why?

You may not find a lot of slides in that old of a unit. On the higher end units, most of the s/o trailers were 16' and up. Still are even now.
