Looking at the dreaded insurance bill for 'farm owners' insurance. We heat one 12 x 12 room in our barn and the insurance is $1435.00 premium for a 210,000 barn value. Is it so high because of plugging in a radiator -looking heater or what? Looking for feedback on what others are paying and seeing if our costs are 'reasonable'?

We have Shelter and ours is around 1000-1100 a year.valued at 78k new.we have a vent/ attic fan on a timer in the tack room which is the only thing that runs when we aren't out there.and that wasn't there when we built it.

It is high because they are betting they may have to rebuild your barn...in general, in rural areas, barn fires are normally total losses...
