I have a 2000 Featherlite horse trailer . The brakes work one side and not the other. Isn't there a common hot wire for both sides of the brakes?

Many brake wiring setups run to one side of the brakes and then run a crossover wire over to the other side of the trailer...my guess is your crossover wiring is broken...

Ditto Paul. Somewhere in the line that is on the working brake side of the trailer, will be a line going to the other side. The splices may be bad or the wire broken. Near the other brakes, the lead further tees to supply both brake assys. Any splice may be a problem area. Look for a wire that is hanging low onto the frame, or not otherwise properly secured. It could be caught by something resting upon the ground.
