Does anyone have an opinion on these trailers from experience or even knowing someone who has/had one.....We are looking for a 3 or 4 horse with a Living Quarters. Any information would be great. Not looking for a dealer, just information. Appreciate it.

Do you want a steel trailer? or are you willing to pay for a good aluminum?? Logan makes a sturdy steel trailer. I would look at others (not listed here) for aluminum.

I have a 2009 merhow alumnasport that I love. It hauls great and thr living quarters are well made. Before that I had a sundowner and it was an overpriced piece of junk that I purchased new and cared for meticulously.

Thank you everyone for your comments. So right now we are looking at used Elite or used 4Star trailers. We have been calling around asking questions upon questions and for the most part Elite gets high marks from almost everyone. New they are waaaay out of our budget. So used will be the way to go. Anyone out there have an Elite or a 4Star or have an opinion on them? Again, thanks for taking the time to read and reply.

any of the older top brand trailers are better built than than any of the new mid line ones, only a few of the new ones are the same quality they were 10 years ago.

just my opinion but I pull a C&C and if some thing would happen to it I probably would replace it with a Platinum, Hart, Elite and look at maybe a couple of others, I am picky about metal thickness, welds and I like to see doors welded on and not with rivets and no light axles I want 17.5 or 19.5 wheels and my list goes on as to what I would be looking at.

I think the older higher end horse trailers in aluminum, elite and four star, are really nice, but nothing retains its value forever. Part of the reason they are so high price is the cost of the conversion which they did not do. I find the price of some of these older units way too high. I think what Merhow has done, gone into producing all of their living quarters in house with the ability to customize is much more efficient and flexible. Looking at their structure is impressive. I would strongly consider a new product like Merhow with all of the updated features found in the newest products at a lesser price then a 10 year old high end Four Star, Elite or even Bloommer. They offer insulated horse compartments with exhaust fans, polylast flooring, dexter airflex suspension, disc brakes, hydraulic front jacks and all solid wood interior cabinets. Anyhow, just my thoughts. I think eventually Elite, Four Star etc, will have to do their own interiors or they will get even more expensive.

We are on our 3rd Sundown and for the money I will keep with them. Had Exiss, Sooner and 4Star.Would make sure the Sundowner is an all aluminum trailer. ie 720 or 725 series. Had 2 of the 727 models and never had an issues out of them but everyone talks about rust problems. which Im sure depend on your location too.Mine now is a 725 Signature Series 14' short wall 3 horse with 2-8000lbs axles and 17.5 tires and wheels.Maine reason I sick with Sundowner if I ever had any issues or simple part I would call the dealer or mfg in Oklahoma and get the stuff fast and parts was cheaper buying directly from them. The 04 I just traded in I bought as a repo and needed some nick nack stuff that the other local dealer wouldn't help with so I contacted Sundowner and they had what I needed and shipped it right out.

Thank you everyone who has taken the time read and reply if you had an opinion to offer. Every post made very valid points. And we have been trying follow through with researching all suggestions. We have narrowed it down to Elite, Merhow and Hart. We feel like Elite and Hart are a step up from Merhow. But still like what Merhow has to offer. Currently we researching dealers, looking at as many pictures and layouts as possible and really studying construction. Still open to opinions and info from anyone who feels they have something to share or point out.

We recently purchased a new Elite. We also narrowed it down from several other companies. WHile "shopping" for our trailer we saw quite s few used Elites from 3 to 10 years old. They all had retained their quality and looks, much better than many of the others. We LOVE our Elite for many reasons.
