Corrosion resistant body panels would be nice, but I don't think 700 pounds less is going to show up on the fuel gauge. I think trucks are near the balance point of fuel economy, it takes x amount of horse power to move x amount of weight. Also not much can be done about aerodynamics since we need/want an open cargo bed.

Having had a car with an aluminum hood...i would be wary...dents to the hood could occur by just pressing the hood closed...dealer had to fix on their dime...since the owners manual specifically stated to DROP the hood from about 8 inches...if it did not latch, reraise the hood and drop it again!!...if it still did not latch have the dealer adjust the locking mechanism...

In a car...yes. But when my GCVW comes in at 29,000 pounds, I don't think 29,700 is going to reduce my fuel efficiency the least bit.
