I have a 1977 Shelby 2 horse straight in and we are trying to hook the brakes up since the wires are cut and brittle. I need to get all new backing plates but can't find what type of axles this trailer has. Can anyone help me out or tell me!!

Welcome to the forum ...I can't tell you what you need... This is what I would do in your place.Take a wheel off. Either take the plate off to take to the store with you or measure the drum diameter and width of the old shoes. It'll likely be 10 or 12 inches in diameter and usually 2 inches wide. Be aware that the backing plates are different depending on left or right side. Another tip ... check both axles/wheels. I had an old trailer that had different axles. And different brake drums.

37 year old axles? I think you would be better off putting new axles on your trailer.
