We are in the process of purchasing a 3 horse gooseneck trailer and would love some guidance with regard to the following brands; Cimarron, Logan, 4 Star and Sundowner. Thanks a bunch!

Go with a Logan, if you order one they will build it however you want it. There craftsmanship is awesome, top of the line inside and out. They use only the best materials. Plus they have a whiz threw floor for the horse's. Go with a Logan and you won't regret it.

I'm going to give you another approach. What will your local dealer/repair shop fix?All trailers have problems, some minor and some more serious. You need to make sure that you have a local dealer with a competent repair shop that can fix a problem correctly. If you own a trailer long enough you will have a problem arise right around the time that you need to use it and you HAVE to get it fixed fast. A repair shop that's 200+ miles away isn't going to cut it. You might find that your local shop can't weld on aluminum, which will not be music to your ears in the event of an emergency, etc.Pick the best trailer for your needs that also can be repaired as close as possible. Every trailer can be custom ordered so that isn't the reason to pick one over the other. All of these brands will be great for 95% of the time, it's the 5% that you need to think about.

You will find 4 different answers to this one.
As I always, I say, depends on your goals. IF you want that that will hold up forever and hold resale, Cimarron is my top pick. Stay away from the early '09 ones as they had a framing issues in the nose on the big LQs.
4 Star would be 2nd. The newer ones have been lightened up a bunch. I still don't like the weather stripping on the drops.

Thanks for that insight-extremely helpful and I hadn't given it any thought. If there was a problem, it of course would happen 24 hours prior to a show!

With regard to the Cimarron, do you have any concerns with the aluminum flooring/urine/corrosion? I know that I've read that this is an issue, but if it is kept hosed out after use is it really that big of a concern?

the floor in any trailer is always a concern but they do not need to be cleaned every use but do need it on a regular basis, I have one trailer that is 20 years old and it only gets washed 3 or 4 times a year and it still looks new under the mats.

4-Star & Cimmaron at the top, no doubt hands down the 2 very best built trailers in the industry and from the selection that you have narrowed down. Sundowner is a great trailer as well, definitely surpasses Logan. Of course, it goes back to what kind of money you want to spend and how much you will use it. If you will be going hard every weekend, long distances, and expect a trailer to last 15-20 years and take that abuse with minor maintenance, than 4-Star and Cimmaron are your trailers. If you plan on going out once or twice a month, with an occasional long haul, Sundowner will be more than enough for that kind of job, but Logan will suit it as well.

Eby makes an outstanding cattle/stock trailer, one of the best if you ask me. I personally am not a fan of their horse trailers, I feel there are other brands who do a better job at building horse trailers. Most aluminum horse trailer companies today use marine grade aluminum floors, and the urine/moisture/water on that floor is of little concern if you rinse it out once a year.
