We are shopping for a horse trailer with LQ and the Bison trailers look nice, but they are way less expensive than other trailers. Please provide feedback if you have any experience (good or bad) with these trailers.

Bisons are steel or combination steel and aluminum. Not necessarily a bad thing but more maintenance or they will go downhill quick. Got a buddy with an all steel Bison. He loves it and says he is glad he didn't spend the extra bucks. It DOES sit in a shed when not on the road.

We have looked at a couple of used LQ Bisons, mainly because of the attractive price points. Could have probably gotten along ok with the interior finishes but the horse area looked and felt CHEAP. I think they are, in general, easier to buy than sell.

Scroll through the used ones for sale on this website. See how fast they fall off per year. Maybe a little older used xx brand will stand up and be worth more down the road. How hard your going to use it and what kind of roads you will travel will play into what brand you should look at also.

CHEAP trailers. Price says it all on these. You might love the price now, just wait a few years or 10 if and when you try to sell it...Nobody will want it and you're going to take a huge loss. Stay away from these unless you want to see them rot from the inside out.

Personally I think Bison makes a good trailer for the price. Sure it's not a trailer a professional rodeo person would have to run up the highway and across country for months at a time. But for those people who only use a trailer a few times a year, the weekend trail rider, the retired looking to travel with their horses a few times a year; it's a great trailer for that. I researched trailers for almost a year before buying our Bison and for the price it can't be beat.

We purchased a used 2006 Bison Aluma Sport 3 yrs. ago, and we have been very happy with it. It's a 3 horse, 12ft. short wall LQ, and love traveling with it. Bison are not intended to measure up to Platinum brand type trailers, however we think they are the best trailers for the money, and suit our needs just fine.

We purchased a 2014 3 Horse Traveler (top of the line). Happy with the $$ to what we got. We traded in an Elite (great quality trailer) that was too small for us. We notice a difference in the horse area quality, but it's not "bad". I would say we are very happy with the money we spent and what we got. If you want top of the line and have the money to purchase that, go for it! Otherwise, for what we paid and what we got, we are VERY pleased! We did have some issues with the slide leaking, but the dealer and Bison took care of it RIGHT AWAY! That is what is important to me. Every trailer will have some type of issues, but it's how the dealer and manufacturer handles those issues is what sets them apart from the competition. PM me is you want any further details and input! Safe travels!

Is your Aluma Sport aluminum on a steel frame or all aluminum? I am looking at a 2005 Aluma Sport and the Bison website doesn't list this model anymore.

We just traded an 2006 Aluma sport that we bought used. The previous owner kept it in A-1 shape and We used it a couple of years. We liked it except it was only a 7 1/2 ft wide with no slide out and with the two of us plus 3 dogs we decided to get something bigger as we plan on spending alot of our retirement in it(I'll retire in a couple of years and Jane in a couple of more).
We replaced it with a 2013 Traveler with 6' slide out (8'wide). We've only done one trip so far (going again this weekend) but we love it. We have a couple of longer trips coming up in the next month or so. It's a three horse with rear and mid tack. We're using the mid tack as a "mud room".
Obviously, we liked the first one enough to buy a second!

We looked at a 2014 Lakota side by side with the 2013 Traveler and the quality of the horse compartment was about the same but the quality of the Traveler's LQ was higher. Also like the layout of the Traveler better than the high price trailers.
