Tried doing a search and couldn't find answer. Question is for those that have bought a brand new trailer within last 6 months to a year. On dealer websites I'm seeing their price and then them showing their discount - is this the price or is there still plenty (some) bargaining room. I know with buying a new vehicle you see sticker price, then dealer price (discounts, rebates, etc) and when you get there you can still get quite a bit off depending on your negotiating skills. Is that how it works with trailers?

We went last year from a BP to an gooseneck, and they gave us for free an B&W Gooseneck hitch incl: installation...so there is always room for negotiating.

A few days ago, we bought a new LQ. We were looking and dealing with 4 different dealers.
We found several that had what we wanted. All 4 of the dealers came in almost exactly the same on the trade value. Went back to them with offers, as we said we will go to our price and nothing more. Only one wanted to play.
We priced this same trailer in April 2013---they wanted 15% more at that time than what became the settling price. Apparently, they became a lot more desperate in the last 11 months, as we ended up at our price. They ended up beating the other 3 dealers by 12-15%...
To answer your question, there are no rebates, or incentives to dicker with on trailers. A lot depends if they have a quick home for your trade, if trade is clean and needs no reconditioning, and if trade is desirable. We detailed and fixed/replaced everything before they seen our trade..I think we got well paid for this work.
I have a friend that has been selling high end trailers for years. He said, most of the time, you are better off selling your trade privately. You can keep 10-12k more in your pocket on the higher end trades. That is how we discovered our trade price where we would settle.
In my professional career, I finance floor plans for equipment dealers. Most dealerships don't make much on new equipment--typically less than 10%. Trades and parts/service are their honey pots.

guess I should have put this in original post -- trailer suggested retail is 56,000 (I'm assuming that's manufacturing company number) and trailer dealer sale price is 49,700 -- just don't know how tightly they are priced. Is this pretty much it or would I still be able to get another 1,000 or more off?

thanks Spin Doctor! My trade is a 99 Sooner with 18 sw, mid tack and 3 horse and in speaking with a dealer today what I didn't know changed from 7 years ago when I bought my other is that you now have to pay sales tax (dang govt!) but that you only pay tax on difference between the two whereas without trade you pay full tax -- and I don't think I'd get much more than what one has already offered and it would probably be too much trouble to deal with myself since people wouldn't be able to get financing since it's that old.
