We've just purchased our first GN, it's a 97 4 horse Charmac with a 5' shortwall. I've pulled everything out of it, read everything I can find, but can't find the one answer to my question. ;) It is a steel trailer with aluminum siding. The particle board and panelling was screwed directly to the walls, no insulation. There was water damage at some point and we want to remodel and insulate, so it's all out. All the conversions I've seen are with aluminum trailers or trailers with "ribs" or "studs" already in the walls. I'm stumped! Can I just attach my furring strips to the walls with screws? OR do I have to use adhesive? The only thing I have done so far is the roof, it's all insulated and ready to continue, it was easy because it is an aluminum roof. =)

Clean and scuff the walls where you want to attach furring strips. Obtain some polyurethane construction adhesive and apply it liberally to the studs. Push the studs into place and then pull them back. Wait about a minute and push them back into place. The next day you will have an excellent bonding and will be able to attach insulation and interior finishes to the walls.
If you are planning any wiring, make sure it is finished before all the studs are attached.

Thanks, gard! I appreciate it. Was having issues with this whole process. Now, I get to figure out the layout for the LQ! I'm guessing I still need to cover all the insulation seams and "studs" with the aluminum tape, like I did the ceiling? I'll have a couple lights, but the wires are still there from the lights I took down in order to work on it.
