I have a question regarding the drop down ramp on a two horse, bumper pull trailer.  It has three bullet hinges welded at the bottom of the ramp.  It also has a leaf spring set up in the center at the bottom of the ramp to assist with raising and lowering of the ramp.

The problem seems to be that the ramp does not come down completely, nor, does the ramp come up flush with the body without binding like something is caught between the ramp and the body.  No debris is between the ramp and body, but, that is what it acts like when you attempt to close the door.  It is like the lower frame of the ramp has too much tension.

I have oiled and oiled the hinges thinking one was corroded and not allowing the ramp to move freely.  I found out the hinges were moving freely when one of the u-bolts on the leaf spring setup snapped when I was out of town.  The ramp hinges worked fine, but, the ramp is too darned heavy not to have some sort of assist.  Not that there is a whole lot of assist.

So, I replaced the u-bolt.  Low and behold, the ramp no longer fully drops, nor does the ramp fully close without stressing the lower frame on the ramp.  You can see the frame flexing.  Any ideas?  Thank you.
