A new friend parks her trailer so the tires on on a mat. She was told that the earth a big culprit in drying out trailer tires. Is there any truth to this?

It is a truth! I have read a study on RV tires sitting on concrete, gravel or earth for a long periods of time has an adverse effect on the rubber. I do not recall the definition of long period. Personally I don't worry about because I use my trailer weekly.

I bought two sets of these off Amazon.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0015YC0PI/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_hst_22
They have worked great for us. I have had them on for a year and half, when the trailer is parked, and they look like brand new. Highly recommend.

I bought the latest set at an RV place. They have lasted almost 2 years out here in the PHX area....lots of sun. They still look brand new!!! these ones are white. I had a black set years ago for the other trailer...bad idea. Some use a piece of plywood cut to the contour of the wheel well. Paint it white and there ya go.
