I just bought a new 2H BP with carpeted dressing room.  I'm thinking of putting my regular tack cabinet in there and bolting it to the wall.  It's wood and weighs about 100 lbs.  I'm new to owning a trailer, so I want to be sure that this isn't a dumb idea because of it's weight.  My trailer only weighs 3200 lbs empty and my truck has a 10000 lb towing capacity.  Thanks for any advice you can give!

If 100lbs is going to be that much of an issue you are under trucked. You figure each horse weighs about 1000lbs and even if you took 1000lbs of gear, which is what you figure for a living quarters, you are at 6200lbs. That 100 is not going to make any real difference. Set it up the way you want.

On a BP trailer any weight in the forward tack area will usually be directly affecting the hitch weight. Normally, several hundred pounds of gear are often stored in this space. A trunk and related gear shouldn't upset things too badly. If you had a water tank, full cabinetry etc, then the hitch weight could become critical, and you would need some kind of mechanical aid to maintain the truck's level ride. If your truck isn't squatting under a fully loaded trailer, horses and gear, you should be good to go.

A straight load BP trailer usually will put more of a load on the hitch than a slant load trailer. Depending on your trailer's axle placement and wheel base, that distance will determine how much of the additional weight will be transferred to the hitch.

If you are bolting it to the wall, and it is 100 pounds empty, will it be sitting on the floor? With that kind of weight, I would sure have it sitting on something and not just hanging on the wall.

It will be sitting on the floor.  Also, I'm thinking of getting a weight distribution hitch just to be on the safe side.  From what I understand, it's never a bad thing to get one, only a bad thing if you need one and don't get one.  My truck isn't sinking when I hitch the trailer, but I like to be as safe as I possible can.

You might also consider Timbrens. They require no maintenance, will keep the truck level regardless of the load and are relatively inexpensive. You will not need to hook them up every time you haul a trailer, or need them and don't have them, if you're hauling a heavy load without the trailer.
