I thought I would pass on a little tip about crank up jacks. This weekend while at a show I was cranking up my jack a friend commented that he wished his cranked that easily. I told him about the 2 different gears on the jack. Push the handle in for quicker response when lowering and pull the handle out for when cranking up slower but easy to crank. He had no idea that there were 2 speeds. I also witnessed a young girl laboring to crank up the jack and stopped and showed her and her mother the 2 speeds.

This got me wondering that many people may not know that crank up jacks have this feature. I know I didn't when I first got my trailer nor did the guy that owned the stables that helped crank it up as I couldn't.

All the ones that I ran across did and the owners didn't know it. Maybe you could point out a way to tell if it is 2 speed or not because that is all I have seen.

If the jack has a pancake shaped case on the side of the column , it likely has 2 speeds.

I wish my LQ had this option...then again, my husband usually works the crank.

My point is, if yours is that big trailer in your avatar it probably is a 2 speed and you just don't know it.

I did a search for  1 speed jacks and mostly 2 speeds came up. So if your trailer has any size to it, most likely it is a 2 speed.

Mine only has one speed, too. I wish it had 2...I also wish I could afford a hydraulic jack!
