You are definitely an inspiration! What a fabulous job you are doing. Like someone else said, probably a better job than a pro, because you actually care about and will be using the final outcome!

Thanks again for the kind words.

Sorry no other updates on the trailer... But we did go off and get another truck, 05 F350 crew cab 6.0 diesel, so that took some option money from the trailer to put a little down on the truck. I am a mechanic from my past life and I do know what problems the 6.0 could give, so I bit the bullet and bought a "full" 2 year bumper to bumper warranty for the truck for little piece of mind.

Went to a bit of a stand still on the tack room of the trailer, building to have somewhat of a living area, that will come in time. But a few photos with the back of the trailer ready to go for horses and of the 1st 2 horse load going to a small pleasure show last night.

Facing front...

Facing back...

And the show... (the person I did this for is the blond with her back facing the camera, my Wife Karen)

This could be the last update for awhile or maybe the last post of this project... Maybe I will start up again when working on the tack room/front area, who knows. Thank you all for the kind words during this longggggg project.

Ok I wasn't truthful, one more photo... I didn't know that one of the girls took a photo of the horses in the trailer (I can't edit my last post to add this one)...

At the risk of sounding stupid I have a question, the animals are loaded from the side ramp and backed into their stalls?

Never a stupid questions. Yes they are, reason... Put the weight on the front of the trailer before butting the weight on the back. In this way more hitch weight is sitting on the truck (less if not any concern of sway), really like "any" trailer should be loaded. So in other words, if you have 3 horses, 2 would load in the front section and the 3rd would go in the back. Not sure how true it is, but I have heard that horses travel better facing backwards (lol, maybe by the 1st person that came up with this type of loading). I can say this, 1st time for both of these horses traveling this way and they did great for the short 60 mile round trip. The biggest deal we had is to make them backup to get in the stalls in the 1st place, from them, "hey what are you doing, we don't go in trailer stalls backwards", but it only took a few minutes to get them loaded this way when heading to the show, loading for the trip home, they loaded like they have always done it that way. Going in and coming out was a breeze, walked in and walked out, no backing up to get them out.

Thanks cutter99!

We load our 6 horse head to head from the side ramp... We make them all back up the ramp and into the stalls...!! Doesn't take long for them to learn.
