Hello allI'm seeking your advise on a 1999 Sundowner- Sierra 3 horse with mid tack. This unit has a new LQ done by Sundowner in 2012.This trailer is all aluminum, with minimal use and said to be well maintained. The asking price is around 24,000. This trailer has a branded title as the trailer was a salvage and repaired by the factory.I also have an opportunity at buying a 2002 Bloomer 4 horse that seems to be in great condition. The price is 38,000.00. Clean title..What would you buy and why??Thank you!!!

Sundowner makes a great trailer. They are mid level. Bloomer is more high end. Even without that, the value of any vehicle with a salvage title is fair to poor. Taking the brands out of the picture, take the clean title.

The 99 aluminum Sundowner your speaking of would either be a 720 or 725 model; and in my opinion they were the best trailer models ever built by Sundowner, and will compete with the best of them.  If the interior was redone by Sundowner a year ago.........and if I could keep 14K in my pocket.....I'd go with the salvage title.

Thank you kindly for your response, yes it is a 720 model. This trailer was the victim of faulty refrigerator (different topic ). Sundowner did the rebuild ( the first of this type I might add)Do you know the weight of the trailer?? I'm trying to gather as much info as possible. I do have a call into a gentleman at Sundowner as well. The other side of this equation is we are trading our RV for the LQ trailer, with the Sundowner we will pocket some cash. With the Bloomer it would be straight across trade. Thanks again

2002 Bloomer and never look back...

Why was the SD trailer salvaged, wreck, tree fall on it, tornado, etc...

This LQ was damaged and burned due to a faulty refrigerator. The entire LQ was replaced as well as some structural supports. The more I write about this the more I scratch my head

My philosophy is always by what you can afford. The best trailer, is a paid for trailer.

One thing I have found thru my own experience, and watching others, is that we tend to always move up in what we want. We started with a 16' stock BP fifteen years ago and have gradually moved up (six trailers later) to our Elite 3H w/ 12' LQ. Since this is your first LQ start with the basics, figure out what you like, don't like, and must haves. Then move up from there.

I am a little leery of a trailer with a salvage title though. People tend to steer away from them, justified or not. And I've had four salvage title vehicles over the years that have served me well. Some insurance companies won't insure them though, so check that out in advance.

Good luck whichever choice you make!

My first thought was the same as many....salvage title scares me.  But if it was strictly a LQ issue, that should mean the frame and structure of the trailer would be good, right?

You're going from RV to LQ trailer.  Do you already have a tow vehicle?  We have a 1999 Sundowner 720 Sunlite 3H 12' SW plus mid-tack and we tow with 3500 dually.  Must have proper tow vehicle for trailer being purchased.

Yes we do have a F350 6.7 SRW to tow.The 1999 Sundowner is out of the picture. We have been contacted by someone with a 2005 SD 8013 +2 3 Horse that is great shape Now the question.. 2002 Bloomer 4 horse(12 foot) or 2005 Sundowner 8013 + 2 ( 15 foot ) 3 horse..What to do...

Is that 15' a 720, or a 727? That's now a big question for me. For a trailer I'll keep to the end, the salvage title doesn't bother me. If I'm buying it to sell, that's a different story BTW.

The 2005 is a 727 with a clean title- the 1999 720 is out of the picture ( salvage title). What can you tell me about a 727-- I know nothing about LQ trailers
