I have a friend that bought a new Ford, 2012 I believe.  They had problems with the lights on the trailer every time they hooked up and was told the old style lamps pulled to much and they needed to go to led lights on the trailer too.  Has anyone else had this problem with the newer trucks and older trailers?  We just bought a 2013 Ford and have a 2003 Hart.  Haven't had the hitch put in yet and I am wondering if we may have the same problem or is theirs just a fluke.

I can't believe that would be true. There has to be hundreds of thousands of older trailers around and I am certain many people are pulling them with newer pickup and having no problems.

There is no reason that older lights on a trailer will cause a problem with newer trucks. We have a 2012 F350 and have no issues with anything we pull. We recently went camping a Mammoth Cave national park. Several of the people at the park had older trailers with 2010 or newer trucks. No one had any issues with lights.
Who told them it was because the new truck can't power the older non-LED lights?

I agree.  My 2011 Ford works the lights on all my trailers just fine.

Goz63, not real sure who told them that about the lights.  They had a flat bed put on so don't know if it was those people or the dealer.  She works for the dealer so I would hope they wouldn't feed her a line of bull.  It seemed kind of strange to me too.  Hopefully mine will work ok.  We will hook it all up when we get the hitch put in and see if all goes well.  Thanks for your comments!
