I just bought a newer truck...a Toyota Tundra. It is replacing my 1995 Chevy. I have a brake controller in the Chevy, it is a Draw Tite Activator 2. For the past couple of years, I have NOT been able to get my rig to stop smoothly when horses are in the trailer. If it is set to 2, it is like I have no brakes. If I set it to 2.5, it is like I am slamming on the brakes. I have played with both controls on the box and just can't find a setting I like. Everything has been checked and the box and the trailer brakes are apparently working fine.
Anyone else have this issue? I am torn right now between getting a new box or just putting the one I have in the Chevy into the Tundra. I hate to throw money away on a new controller, but I would really like to be able to stop smoothly for a change! Any advice would be appreciated!

With a timed brake controller like that, you'll always have that issue of not enough or too much brake. Personally I wouldn't use anything less then an inertia brake controller. Currently I'm using the Teknosha Primus, if money was no object I'd have the MaxBrake that uses a sensor connected to the master cylinder.

We have the "Prodigy" on both tow vehicles. I am quite happy with the action, and with the ease of install, as it is pretty much "plug-n-play". Slight adjustment is easy when changing from 2 horse BP, to 4 H GN w/liv qtrs.

I had a F250 and the tundra can pull just a good as that I think it pulls better then that I pull a gooseneck stock trailer with a draft horse and no problems

The prodigy comes with a CD disk that will show you how to set it up, plus how to a adjust your brakes. Wiring the old box is a PIA so do your self a favor get a new box. good luck.
