Subject: Question on Sundowner Trailer

Hello all, I'm interested in purchasing a trailer but Im unsure whether its steel frame or aluminum frame and all the decals have been removed from the trailer.

Its a 94 Sundowner, 4h slant load step up with mid tack and d/r.

Serial #13SAK2229R294720

I cannot find anywhere online that I can decipher the serial number to determine what the frame is. It does have the aluminum skin and floors.

Any help would be appreciated!

I agree, it's aluminum framed.  In 94, Sundowner was building both all steel OR all aluminum; but not aluminum skinned/steel framed.  They didn't come along until late in 97; and they were built thru 2007.  All steel went away in 98.  From 2008 thru today, all Sundowner trailers are all aluminum.

Doesn't the 720 at the end of the VIN also point to all aluminum?  My trailer is a 720 and it's all aluminum.

From the mid 90's and well into the 2000's, all aluminum Sundowners that were non-living quarters trailers had VIN's that ended with AA followed by four digits.  Aluminum living quarters of the same time period,(710-720-725's) ended with LA followed by 4 digits.

The trailer built right after yours was XXX721 and so on. Your 720 there is a sequential number

I am going to look at a 2003 Sundowner 03 Trail Blazer III with a full l.q. and was wondering if there has been any bad feedback on this partictular brand of sundowner.  I have a 04 but just with a weekender and love it but am wanting to upgrade.
