I did a search for the past year on floor cleaning and did not find my answer. What is the best cleaner for aluminum floors in the horse trailer? Our trailer is only a year old and last fall I pulled all the mats and power washed it with just water. It seemed to do a pretty good job. I am not sure it did the complete job though. I have read horor stories about acid washes from truck stops leaching fumes into horse trailers and injuring animals so I am reluctant to do the muriatic acid. What do you all use for cleaning the floor?

Muriatic acid is used for corrosion control, acid etching and serious cleaning issues. It is not necessary for routine maintenance.

A common RV wash and power HP washer works very well to clean the aluminum

Rather than just cleaning the bare aluminum floor, do a search on "coating on horse trailer floor" going back 365 days.  Several will come up but cllick on the one that says "coating on horse trailer floor". The forth post down is done by Gard and will take you to another thread that is 4 pages of back & forth posts but includes his blow by blow description of how to coat your floor.  We had purchased on 06 Kiefer Built LQ in 2010 & the floor was in excellent shape & we wanted to keep it that way but sometimes our horses urinate & it goes between the cracks & lays under the mats.  We are in our 60's & too old to constantly pull mats.  I followed Gard's instructions (you will see I have some posts and asked him several questions) and did it myself (I was 62 at the time).  It has worked great and we only pull the mats at the end of the season and powerwash the whole back of the horse area, ceiling, walls & floor before storing it for the winter and we store the mats under the trailer.  It has been in for 3 seasons and the floor looks as good as the day I did it!  Cost for everything was about $150.  Hope this helps!
