I agree, I use an electric space heater with better results than the strip heater. You can get a cheap one from the Dollar Store or nicer ones from the Big Box stores. Look at the wattage, the more wattage the more heat it puts out. Don't go crazy with wattage but anything that plugs in a standard recepticle should be fine.

Thank you yes we agree they dont put out much heat but for a secoundary heat they are nice, we payed over 50 dollars for a space heater from Lowes and it doesnt do much, have to try to find something a little better, we also bought and electric blanket, will probably use the stove maybe or burners to heat trailer.

Please be cafeful using the stove. This is extremely dangerous. Make sure you have a crack in a window or two and be very careful not to overheat the stove. I would suggest you not do this when sleeping. Just my opinon

My experience, like those above is that the strip heaters in the A/C units are worthless. They just don't put out enough heat.. And using the stove to heat with is dangerous. They are not designed to be left burning while you go to sleep.
If you have shore power hookup, I'd get a good ceramic heater and just leave it run at what ever settings keeps you warm. If you are running off a generator or battery, then look at some kind of propane heater/furnace that is designed to run while you sleep.
Most living quarters with a furnace, apparently yours doesn't maybe you should consider installing a furnace.

Glad to see PH agrees. A ceremic heater does do a good job, I often use my ducted propane heater to break the chill then turn it off when going to sleep and run the ceramic heater during the night ( if we have shore power) then return to propane heat in the AM.

we took one out of a old rv its propane and it works great all you need is a gas line ran to it and 12 volts check with a rv dealer about installing one in your trailer same as they use in the camper trailers and they are a lot safer then a space heater and crank out some heat

I guess I'm the only one that has ever had good luck with heat strips. My previous trailer had them and even in weather that froze the garden hose I was toasty inside. 1500w is just as much heat if it's on the floor in a cube or in the ceiling. Now I use a "milk house" heater since this trailer doesn't have heat strips. I searched and found the parts I need to install the strips, but the cost is keeping me from doing it.

Thank you all for your help and info, I guess I will have to get a better space heater, and just use the electric blanket. I was only going to turn the oven on to warm up the trailer then turn it off, but I guess I better not do that.

Operating the heat strips makes more noise than heat. Purchase a ceramic heater for ~$25 and enjoy a quieter, warmer, less expensive environment. One heater easily warms a 13' LQ at below freezing temperatures.

We use a oil filled radiator style heater. It is quiet and will heat 15 foot shortwall trailer comfortably in 30 degree weather. I prefer not to hear a fan blow so this style meets our needs. It has three wattage settings up to 1500 watts and can be programmed to the desired temp.
