It's a sad culture at the track. If you have ever been in the backside of a racetrack, the horses are not the only ones with drug problems. It's been a long time and aside from currently owning a couple of Exracers (my gray's sire won the Traverse Stakes way back when)and aiding a rescue at a couple of end of year sales in Southern Illinois years ago, I haven't been on the backside in quite some time. However, something said too often around the track is 'Better living through medication.' Until they break that cycle, horses and humans will continue to suffer because of that delusion.
Which is sad, because the horses really do love to run.
