We put down 1/2" particle board over 1/2" insulation in sleeping area of gooseneck. What would cause moisture build up. Trailer has been sitting for about year through summer, winter and summer. We opened trailer up and found mold on particle board. After removing particle board there was moisture between insulation and board at the seam (center). There were ceiling sheets that had been laying/stored on top of the particle board over the winter and summer. What caused the moisture? Is it because of the ceiling sheets laying on top or did we not insulate properly? We want to make sure this does not happen again before we put down carpet in the bed area.

Some of the insulations have a barrier on one side that works as a vapor barrier. You aren't going to like this but to do it right you will have to remove your insulation and put up something different. I think if you do a search on this forum you will find some specific products that would work for you. You want something that moisture can't get through; condensation is your problem right now. Replace it with something like the foil/bubble wrap or insulation sheets that have a barrier on one side, foil/plastic/impermeable film of some sort. You can get what you need at any Lowe's or Home Depot.

I would use the rigid styrofoam board insulation. It's usually pink or blue. It'll cost more then bat insulation but between possible condensation or a leak down the road, it won't absorb the moisture. Once bat insulation absorbs moisture, it's near impossible to get it out.

I reccommend a solar roof vent, when the trailer is sitting in the sun the vent is running. My old trailer had one I had it proffesionaly installed and it never leaked even driving in the worst rain storms. My current trailer has regular pink house type fiberglass insulation and it is not molding at all, it has a vent that runs off the battery so it isn't on all the time - I hope to get a solar vent in soon. I recently had to fix a leak under a window and pulled off a spot of wall - so checked and there wasn't any mold around the black backed pink insulation.
