I recently got a new trailer. It jiggles/bounces when pulled. My husband and I discovered the tires have no weights so Wed., I'll be getting the tires balanced hoping this provides a smooth pull and an easy ride (not my truck shocks-they're new). If this is the problem I know it'll make it quieter inside, but after having another trailer for 8 months that made lots of clanging my horse is sensitive to noise still. Any ideas how to make the center divider quieter at the front where it can pivot back and forth-it's where the pins slide in? I'd also like to wrap the butt/chest bar "hooks/loops" with something to make them quieter and am not really sold on wrapping electrical tape on them to reduce the metal on metal noise. Thanks.

In my opinion you are probably just wasting your time and money having the trailer tires balanced, I have never had a trailer that had tires balanced and I doubt it will make a big difference if it makes any difference at all. How big is the new trailer? Is it making lots of noise when it's empty...in general trailers do bang, rattle, and squek a bit and if you are already sensitive to it I am guessing you probably hear it a bit more.

If this is a bumper pull...is the trailer level?...or are you running primarily on the back axle?

Instead of electrical tape, you could try vinyl dip. You can buy it at hardware stores. Just coat the butt bar ends in that. I haven't tried it on horse trailer stuff but it worked well on kids play things.

It would be more helpful for you if you described your trailer and truck in detail. Is this a newly built trailer or a new-to-you older one? BP or GN? If you have just one horse in the trailer where does he ride? If your trailer noticeably bounces, there is some more basic problem than tires aren't balanced.
