I have a question regarding an air conditioner (Duo-Therm Brisk Air) that I took off our truck camper and gave to a friend for their horse trailer. It had sat unused for about 2 years and when they installed it, it fired right up, but just wasn't cooling like it used to. They went and had it re-charged and it cools some but not like it used to. Does anybody have an idea of why it wouldn't be cooling like it should. I told them to make sure that they plugged it into a outlet that could handle the draw, and try that too. Just a shot in the dark of what could be wrong with it. Thanks

I'm not sure on the re-charge option. I am wondering if it is the compressor that is bad. You can hear the compressor actually kicking on but not making a difference. Just another thought.

No it was on the camper while not being used. I called an rv place and they forwarded me on to another business, so I am just waiting for them to call. Hopefully its not to much to fix.

First does the compressor seem to kick on and off a lot? Might have a thermal overload sensor going bad. Need to time and see how long the compressor actually runs. I would by a little digital thermometer and just observe it over a few hours. If the compressor kicks in and runs continuously for 10-15 minutes it is probably operating fine. If the compressor kicks on and off every three minutes something needs diagnosed. Could be a capacitor going bad- when it does there will be no compressor kicking on and just the fan running. The thermostat might need replacing (or checking for shorts). Good luck!

Just a thought... since the A/C came off a camper which is small space the BTUs might not be enough to cool a larger LQ area, especially one that is not inuslated. Might want to check the BTU to see if it is adequate to cool the LQ trailer.
