Greetings to all of you experts out there. I have not posted on this forum for a few years, but have accessed it's info before.Here is my question- I am in the market for a different LQ trailer with a few more amenities than I have right now. I see a huge price difference between major brands. There seems to be a middle of the road price, and a high price. My question is this- would I be better off with a new middle of the road trailer (Featherlite, EXiss, Sundowner types) or an older high end type? (CM, 4Star, Elite types) I do have a budget.The more I study and research the more questions I seem to have.ThanksJean

I've done both. Current trailer, I actually traded a middle of the road trailer I bought new two years previous for higher end one, two year older. Best suggestion is to make a list of your absolute needs, another of your wants. Compare them with your budget and also think about how you will use the trailer. Will it be every weekend or possibly longer extended trips. Long trips or short, and the type of roads you will be on. Individual assessment is needed for this type of purchase, not a "keep up with the Joneses" mentality,
Of course the absolute best trailer, is a paid for trailer.

I sure do agree on the paid for part. I am selling/trading a paid for unit and paying for the new one so.....
I have made a mental list. It might help to write it down I also have contacted a few trailer dealers and told them of my needs. A perfect scenario would be high end trailer, a few years old, at a great price. Maybe that is possible since I have until spring to make the deal.
I now own a 3h slant Featherlite weekender, 2001. That little unit pulls like a dream and seems made quite well. With the amenities added, I know the new trailer will be heavier. That is why I an wondering if I need to go to a higher end trailer.

I see you are from west central MN. We do have an excellent dealer down here in SE MN that deals in both middle and upper level trailers. Check out his website: dennystrailersales.com. Talk to Denny or Sean. They have a good inventory or they can order for you. They do a lot of internet business too.

If you are familiar with and like your Featherlite trailer, why don't you consider that brand for your next trailer? The larger units are structurally made proportionally heavier, and able to carry the heavier weights.

Thanks, I will call Denny's. I would like to find a Featherlite. Nothing would make me happier but I haven't seen many in the wide body style. I really need to make more space for my horse if I am making more space for me!

When I was shopping I spent a LOT of time looking a used units. As with everything else "You Get What You Pay for" I had decided after looking at used mid to low line trailers that that was NOT the way for me. The higher end ones just seemed to hold up much better. I wound up having a new Platinum LQ GN built and could not be happier. Good luck on your quest.

I saw that trailer and told a friend he needed to go look at it. Guess he must have snoozed to much and lost. You will really like it. My 3H w/ 12' Elite pulls like a dream and is really well built. Congrats!
