I am thinking about building a small economical shower in the LQ area of my trailer. I have ideas on how to design the actual "shower stall" part, but am trying to determine the simplest, cheapest way to take a basic shower. Suggestions? I have read through previsou threads on here, but can't really find anything that I think I want to rig up. I want to keep it simple with minimal plumbing involved. Is that possible, lol?

What I was thinking was to mount a container to the roof to hold the water, then cut a hole in roof and basically have a valve on the shower head where I can turn water on and off and let gravity do the work. Water would be warmed by sun on roof. Any reason this wouldnt work?

There are tanks available that can be fitted to the roof of your trailer - but they must be installed within a hay rack - to support the weight of the water!
Then, rather than cut a hole in your roof, run a plumbing line along the SIDE of your trailer from the tank. Use hose or flexible water line or garden hose.
Use a stiff piece of pipe through the wall of the trailer - being sure to caulk appropriately. Attach a shower sprayer - the kind that has a hose with sprayer and has a bracket to hold it above your head too.
I built a small "rack" to stand on when I shower at the back of my trailer. I'll post the photos shortly.

A cheap solution is to buy a new spray tank with a sprayer (like what you spray weeds with) Use that to shower with. You can heat some water in the microwave to make it warm.

I have a very small LQ that I built into my Cherokee and didnt have enough space for a shower. I bought a camping shower that is basically a small gas geyzer with its own little pump. You drop the pump into a bucket plug the 12v in and whala you have a hot shower. The 1st couple of times I used the horse area to shower in, but found it was always wet back there and from time to time we have friends that camp in there.
I then bought a shower tent....its a small compact easy to put up tent and works like a treat. When packed up it takes up almost no space. Only downside I supose is you have to go outside to shower - but then we are camping here...

Oh its few years back I know but seen some peeps had shower bag ya hang in sunshine and gota be best at cost efficient....Or we have 50 gallon drum in back truck for horses or extra water for our lnqs someone could weld heavy duty rack on roof and can be instant shower in back trailer.Oh guess ya should park rig in sunshine to warm water up.It would make for really nice shower after dusty trailride or show.

Oh, you guys! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks like that!
Here's what I do...I have a Sun Shower(large size, I think it's 2 1/2 gal) that works fine most of the time. I put it on my truck hood, go riding, come back and have enough for a quick shower for myself and a hot mash for my horse. If it's cloudy it doesn't work. If it's a super hot day, I actually have to add cold water to make it cool enough to bathe.
When it's winter, or no sun, I have a Coleman Hot Water On Demand. It works great..propane canister heats the water and rechargeable battery pumps the water from a bucket. It can be used to make tea, oatmeal, inst. coffee, etc. also.
The Sun Shower is around $20. The Hot Water On Demand is around $150 I think. I usually use the Sun Shower as it's easier to set up, but I sure do appreciate the HWOD when it's cloudy out!

I have a cowboy shower, but I put in a sink faucet with the hand held sprayer (the kind in the faucet) and haven't used the shower yet. I can get my hair clean and do a sponge type clean off. But, I am only gone a day or so at a time.

I added an Eccotemp portable tankless water heater. You can get it at Camping World for $135.00. http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/eccotemp-portable-water-h... I just hang it on the window bars in the stud stall with a bucket strap, attach a garden hose and a propane tank. That's all there is to it. For a shower pan, I bought a $15 cheap utility sink at Lowes and cut the legs off and use 2 shower curtains hung from the roof. As long as you have a water supply and a propane grill tank, you will have hot water. the downfall to this setup is you have to have a water supply. I'm working on solving that problem with a portable water tank and adapting an RV water pump to make it portable as well.

I bought a utility sink like someone else just said they did. We built a waterproof wall around 3 sides, on the 4th, I will have shower curtain. I got a 25 gall water tank and am going to used a marine pump to suck the water up. I dont think its as cheap as it could have been, but I like it and it should last forever!

nothing can make us at ease with a comfortable bath. Im planning to have a shower trailers with a broad range of interior and exterior finishes. Something that you will feel you are in your permanent house taking a bath.

out here where its hardly ever sunny or warm enough to heat up the bag, I just boil a kettle of water to dump into the solar shower bags.
you can hang it from a tie ring, and if you have four portable holes, you can take four tall poles and staple gun a tarp around for a waterproof/opaque shower enclosure. packs down to nothing especially if you use extant trees for the poles.

I have a Coleman Hot Water on Demand, and it is very nice. It can be used as a pump, as a sink faucet or as a shower. Just nice and simple. It's one self-contained unit. Just put its ac/dc pump in a water container or connect it to a garden hose (white one for potable water). It's heated with a portable propane cylinder or can be connected to a larger propane source. I plan to put a collapsible shower in my homemade weekender, but haven't yet.
