I have a custom Featherlite. I have 2 deep cell batteries, and my refridgerator is propaine or electric. So to answer your question, it does not need to be kept plugged in all the time, but to keep the refridge cold and to save on propaine it does.

I keep mine plugged in all season, when in the yard, that way it is ready to go. The only time it is not plugged in at home, is if I am not going to use it for an extended period of time.

Happy Trails.. and good luck..

You have to be careful leaving them plugged in all the time. If you do, you must keep a close eye on the batteries. The typical factory charger is "dumb" and will over charge the battery and burn it up. I did this one year. In winters past I pulled the battery out since I didn't have power to where the trailer was parked. The first winter of having power at the trailer I left it plugged in, by spring the battery was burnt dry. Now I plug the trailer in for a few days, then unplug it for a couple weeks.

I agree totally.. If you are going to leave it parked for any length of time, you can't have it plugged in.

But during the summer, I just keep a close eye on my batteries..

If your Lq has a master switch, turning it OFF will prevent the batteries from over charging when continuously powering your trailer. If you don't, you can easily install a battery master switch like this:

Some trailers have a battery "master" switch some don't. My previous trailer didn't so I added one. It is just a fairly large, high current rating switch that disconnects the battery from the trailer. The switch is usually located close to the battery. As for your truck charging the trailer, if the manufacture wired it correctly it will. A simple check of the trailer plug for 12v on the charge pin while disconnected from the truck will tell you.
