Not sure about other states but in the state of Texas you will find a number of auctions all over the state that has RV auctions 1 or 2 times per month. Up until about 6 months ago I was able to buy them under regular used vehicle dealers lic. but now the state has changed this policy and now I must also have a used trailer dealers lic. which is another $750. per year fee...... Not really worth it for a couple of trailers per year for me. But I did find a loop hole in the system. If I pay the transfer fee and tax if not for farm use I can still buy and sale them with my regular lic.

Thank you for replying. I am on the East Coast and need a 2 horse bumper pull slant with little dressing rm up front, walk thru, alum, good shape. The used trailers are being advertised at almost new prices. I don't understand it. That's the East Coast for you...if it's horses seems like everybody wants a fortune from farrier, hay, vet and trailers.

The prices are high for two reasons on a 2H bumper pull-
A)Everybody wants one. So demand outstrips supply.
B) And all of the "financial gurus" on NPR now are telling everyone to not buy anything new. So if everyone is bidding on the used ones- guess what happens??
So maybe you'll want to look at a new one more carefully? Just my thoughts.

Just my thinking too. I would not buy a used (small) horse trailer unless it was cheap! And would have to be WAY cheaper than a new one. The only way buying "repo" trailers pays off is it you are buying a higher end trailer like we did. We bought a 2004 Sundowner 8010 Signature Series 3 hores that was built for the Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo as a show trailer and even still had the build sheet in the trailer and dealers cost in 04 was over $70-k, we give $27,500 for it a a little over 2 years ago. I run it through the RV sale last week just to see what it is worth now and I was offered $35-k for it wholesale!
Best time to be buying any type of trailer is late summer and fall when, although when most people get the "buying bug" they want it now and can't wait.
