If you had the chance to purchase a 2 horse Slant Load Bumper Pull with 7'6" interior height and the sale price was within $1000 of each other which would you choose. The all aluminum 4 Star or the Steel, Fiberglass and Aluminum Hawk. The stall width is bigger on the Hawk. This is for a 16 hand Friesian and another horse.

4 Star!. The Hawk just isn't in the same class of trailer as 4 Star. Last time I looked at one, the Hawk was still an aluminum skin over steel frame with a wood floor. But, the Hawk would be much cheaper.
Couldn't find a Mr. Truck/Trailer review on 4 Star.... The 4 Star is an all amuminum trailer, the Hawk is steel skin on steel frame with wood or rumber floors, fiberglass roof and fenders..... Very little aluminum in a Hawk trailer.

I prefer a wood floor or rumber. Aluminum seems to have issues of it's own plus it is hotter, noisier and less forgiving than wood. I'm also not a fan of all-aluminum trailers. My brain just can't accept that they are as strong as steel trailers. The one piece fiberglass roof on the Hawk is also a plus. The trailer stays much cooler in hot weather.

Thanks for the responses. We have only been around horses for 2 years and I don't think we ever got a consensus on any issue. Cars are made out of steel and they have improved durability to rust, but planes are made of aluminum and they hold up well in difficult situations. I think I am going to look closely at the little things in terms of workmanship. The fiberglass roof makes sense on the hawk. Both have good reputations.Any thoughts how 4 Star and Cimarron compare.

Most everyone has said 4 star and it's the better quality trailer BUT the OP is going to haul a Friesian. The wider stall might be better suited so that might make the Hawk trailer a better choice.

Well we went and looked at the Hawk. Was not impressed with bolts on a 2 year old trailer that has never been used had rusted bolts. Why they don't use stainless steel on these trailers(and others Cirle J, Trails West) is beyond me. Now looking at a Cimarron Straight Load.
