There are a lot of great places to camp and ride in the Ozarks, but one I can personally recommend is Shelton's Big Flat Getaway in Big Flat, Ark. near Mt. View. It adjoins the Ozark National Forest, you can ride out of camp and onto the trails. Have water/elect. hook-ups for LQ trailers, but a nice cabin or a house to rent if you need it. Some of the best, largest covered stalls I've found. Not a big place, but very clean and Shawn Shelton is super nice. We did a pretty easy 3-hour loop with our horses (who we still show) but there are lots of longer trails and I'm sure you can get as challenging as you like! Buffalo National River and many more trails a short distance away. And about 20 minutes from the quaint little Ozark town of Mt. View with lots of restaurants and bluegrass music on the courthouse square!

Don't think you'll regret going to Ark absolutely beautiful....my favorite place to go. Haven't been to Lonesome D for a few years but have heard some people say that they're not keeping the campground up?? Went to Idlenook in October had a great time. Our spring trip will be short and closer to home since hubby is layed off right now.

We live in southwest missouri (tween branson & springfield-in the woods). There are gorgeous places to ride within the hour around here, but our favorites are in Arkansas, and I mean the best of ANYWHERE... Buffalo River at Erbie and Falling Waters at Pelsor are great!
