I would think there shouldn't be much difference unless one has a hayrack or the axle placement is different??? I always thought Bloomers pulled heavy, but maybe it's just me?

Having been on this forum for a few years...I've discovered that some people are uncomfortable towing with anything less than a one ton dually...others feel they can pull a 40 footer with a station wagon......SO the only true test is for you to hook up and determine the feel of the rig for yourself...

Thank you so much giving me your thoughts and opinion. And I hear what your saying.... I've seen folks pulling a trailer with a vehicle I would never put a hitch on, much less a horse trailer. For me, I pull with an 02 F-350 7.3 PS, 4x4 dually. I've been pulling since I was 16 and am now an ARRP member. In my opinion, I wouldn't pull with anything less than a 3/4 ton long bed truck. However, I like the stability of a dually better than a single axle. I just wish they made 2 speed rear-ends. I think that these trailers are fairly close, so I'm comfortable switching from a 4 Star to a bloomer. I'll just make sure the hitch is adjusted correctly (1 1/2 inch higher in front than the back) before I pull it the first time.

If you feel you need a2 speed. there are some options out there. Gear Vendors makes a very nice automatic 2 speed that bolts to the rear of your current trans.

I don't think you will see much difference in the way those two trailers pull, unless, the LQ are not similar in construction. A LQ with a vinyl wrap style of cabinets (similar to a lower end camping trailer) is going to weigh alot less than a solid wood cabinetry. But, if the trailers are pretty similar, I would let the options define my choice. That year, the drop down windows were very similar. Bloomer usually puts more airflow in their dividers. The 8' wide trailer will weigh more. Bloomer is considered by many, to be a 4 Star spin off. They build a nice trailer. Randy Bloomer worked for 4 Star before starting Bloomer.
I have personally owned and hauled around a total of six 4 Stars and three Bloomers. Never pulled any of them with less than a dually. Always pulled the over 32' + ( on the floor) trailers with the Sportchassis. For the last 8 years we have run two rigs. The larger one for travel and one smaller for local.

Thank YOU for your input. This is exactly what I hoped someone with experience would jump in with .02 worth. I feel comfortable going ahead now. I think both trailers have been lightly used and the bloomer shows little wear. Do you have an opinion on 7' vs 7.6? My horses don't need the exta 6" so we should be ok with 7 ft height.

I prefer 7'6". That 6" can mean a big difference to a TB or a young horse. Feels less clostraphobic and would also appeal to a broader range of buyers. Do they have mangers? If so, IMHO, wider is better.
