Hi,

I am looking at memory foam mattress. Does anyone have one? do you like it? Where did you get it?

I am not familiar with them. I just saw one in a horse trailer that was a 4" mattress. Not just a bare foam topper for your mattress, but a real mattress with a fabric cover just like a regular mattress.
I like that they are 4" and that they are covered. I understand there is different densities and I would like to know which is best.

Thanks, Dennis

I think it is personal preference. A friend of mine has one and loves it. I slept on it 1 night and HATED IT. I was SO uncomfortable that I was tempted to sleep on the floor. I have never felt so strongly about something like this matress.

I bought mine from Overstock.com.  They have all sizes and thickness.

My wife has been tempted to steal it out of the horse trailer and put it on the bed.

I have one from Overstock.com that is very nice.  Highly recommend that site for the best deals on memory foam mattresses.

LOVE IT. Have one in the camper and also in the house. If you do not like a very firm mattress, you likely won't care for it.

I went to an upholstery shop and bought 4 inch thick firm foam, then topped it with a memory foam topper from walmart.  That worked so well that I replaced the mattress in the house with the same setup.  I no longer have to adjust to sleeping on different mattresses when i am either at home or on the road.  Anything to make life more comfortable!!

I have to agree with 'laurie'...I really don't care for them.  I slept on one in a hotel once and felt like I was sleeping in a big bowl of pudding.  Also, as a middle-aged female prone to night sweats, I felt like it made me even hotter.

We have a temperpedic in the house. I LOVE it, but have to admit it IS a lot warmer than a regular mattress. Since we live in the desert, that is not something that is good in the summer here, especially when the temp is 95 at midnite.

We also have one in the house, and love it, but horse trailer is just a regular mattress. Would love one in the trailer too.

I didn't have the greatest mattress in the trailer I recently sold so I bought a memory foam mattress to put over it and didn't have a problem with the mattress anymore.  I love it so needless to say when I bought a different trailer, the memory foam stayed with me.

Watch the sales and you can find some really nice ones at Kohls, Wal Mart, or some of the stores in the malls that sale bedding.

I got the memory foam RV mattress from Overstock.com.  It is WONDERFUL!  So much so, that we ordered another one for my son's room to sleep on every night.  It is around $240 and is 10" thick.  Comes in three pieces and a mattress cover.  Highly recommend over conventional mattresses.

So are we talking a full size mattress or is it the memory foam mattress pad..?  I have seen the mattress pads you put on top of an existing mattress ( at Wal-Mart)  but I wasn't aware the actually sold mattresses.  Would you get the same "effect" if you put the MF pad on top of the mattress ?   Love my trailer...hate the mattress in it.

Not all memory foam is created equal - I believe they are rated according to support. I have to have a firmer bed w/my back & when I got mine for the trailer (I didn't care if it was a "finished edge mattress or not), I just got either a 4" or 6" (can't remember, but thinking 4") of the most dense foam in a sheet. I LOVE it! I could sleep out there all the time! Our house bed is a Sleep Number Pillow Top, but I also put a 2" memory foam on top of it when I was needing my shoulder surgery - really helped it. I believe the Overstock ones are layers of some foams, including the memory foam. So it depends on how much support you want. Nice thing about mine is it gives me all that support but does not take away from the "head room" in GN.

I have a tempurpedic traveling topper over the standard 3 or 4 inch mattress. I absolutely love mine. It was expensive but you get what you pay for. I recommend sleeping on one at least a few nights before spending any money. As you can see from the posts here, some love it, some hate it. Put me down in the I love it category.Just beware; since it's memory foam, it will always remember what happens on it.

I bought a down topper for our trailer mattress, but, that didn't work.So I got one of the memory foam mattress toppers.Man,it didn't take long to get rid of THAT.Talk about hot.I should have known better because we have a pillow top mattress in our home by Denver, and, the top 4" is a memory foam.Nice in the winter, but,I can't stand that thing in summer.it wakes me up all the time, burning up!You might like it and have no problem with it.I wound up buying a plush top mattress pad for the trailer mattress, and, that was the perfect match. Most people that I know that own a memory foam mattress (such as Tempurpedic ) will say that they hold heat and don't breath too well. Some swear by them, like water beds, though.
