I have just replaced a complete axle assembly including electric brakes but the brakes lock up and will not release unless the wheel is reversed, the other axle brakes work fine does anyone know why this could happen?

Sounds like you got either two right hand or two left hand backing plates and shoes.... The side that is locking up is probably wrong.

Thanks, could the axle have been put on the wrong way round?

Spring axles, possibly. Torsion axles, I doubt it. Is it happening on both sides, or just one?

You did put the identified LH brake on the driver's side and the RH brake on the passenger side?...The magnet unit is on the bottom of both plates, correct? You have properly adjusted the brakes? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeD6KKibdmw
