Hey do any of you live near Uwharrie and know the trails well?   I'd love to go back again for 3 or 4 days!

We go ride in Uwharrie 2-3 times a year. We typically stay at Canebrake Horse Camp but have stayed at 4 B Farm a couple times. There are color coded trail maps at Canebrake and the folks at 4B are very helpful and knowledgeable about the trails. Canebrake doesn't offer electric or water but does have a wash stall for the horses, potable water, and pretty nice bath houses. 4B has electric sites but no water hook ups.

We are headed that way in about an hour or so to try out one of the two other primitive horse camps. I'll let you know how it goes.

Update on Uwharrie: Canebrake has recently added power to all sites.

Badin Lake horse camp is primitive (not even a porter potty) but there are posts and trees to highline from. I would recommend bringing panels or electric fence if you will be arriving late on Friday or on a holiday weekend because the areas with poles go fast.

Deep Water Trail horse camp is way out the way and the trail from that camp to the rest of Uwharrie's trails is 1.7 miles. It's a big open field - I didn't see any tie out poles but you could probably find suitable trees.

The trails look real good and all the water crosssings had enough water in them for the horses to drink. There were a lot less trail markers than I remember and the color coding on the trees has worn off. We got off trail several times and we're pretty familiar with the area.

Still one of my favorite places to go. The weather was great this weekend for riding.
