If we can't find a place to store our living quarter trailer this winter (live in Minn.) is wise not to tarp to so that moisture is not trap inside the trailer? Just worried about snow and ice build up and freezing and thawing that could cause water to get into the living quarter part. We do have a leak in the roof and just haven't had time to take to the trailer place to get it fixed.

Make time to fix that roof leak leak, a tarp isn't going to fix it, just scratch up the trailer when the wind gets it and rips it off during a storm. Now, leave that tarp to covering the wood pile and keep a little heat going in the LQ when it's really cold... Helps dry it out, keep the humidity down..... Just my thoughts...

I agree with Retento. Fix the leak and leave the tarp off. It will definitely scratch the trailer.

We are going to get the roof fixed just getting the appointment made that will work with our work schedule. Beside scratching the trailer why is it bad to trap a trailer?

Get one of these for your trailer http://www.farmtek.com/farm/supplies/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10052... The tarp will hold in the moisture and can cause mildew. The tarp will also rub on the roof. In some cases, the edges of the roof get worn away and cause leaks. If you feel the need to cover your trailer, use a material specifically designed for this purpose. These covers allow the air to circulate and keep your trailer dry. However when considering this option, think to yourself: Do you cover up the roof on your house for the winter? It's not usuallynecessary.

A tarp will trap moisture underneath itself. Wind movement can cause damage to your LQ accessories, antennas, vent covers etc. The constant motion of the tarp onto a sharp edge, can cut the material, allowing water and snow to enter. In most cases, one or more of the tie downs will rip out or break, allowing that area of the tarp to continually slap against your trailer until it's repaired. This can cause actual dents to the smooth, thin, trailer siding.

A properly sized AC shroud cover will protect that unit, and prevent any moisture from entering into the living space while its being stored.
