I have a 2006 4H Sundowner 727 Sierra...steel frame with aluminum siding and flooring. I pulled the mats up today to powerwash the floor, and I noticed at the back end on the right side, the "Suncoat" was loose from the flooring in about an 18" x 18" area...it wasn't broken in pieces or chipping...it was just not connected to the aluminum floor...you could push down on it and feel it was loose. The Suncoat adheres well to the rest of the floor. Wondering what I should do? Should I cut out this piece that is loose? Any thoughts?
Also, would this be covered under the Sundowner warranty. I bought the trailer used, but it says it has an 8 year structural warranty that is transferrable. So would Sundowner honor the warranty even though I'm the second owner. Bought it from a good dealer...Twin Cities Featherlite. Thanks for any help or info.

Contact your dealer to find out about your warranty options. Any loose coating will have to be removed and replaced. If it isn't, urine will be trapped underneath, which will hasten damage to the flooring.

Yes, the Suncoat is covered by the 3 year hitch to bumper warranty so depending on the trailer's original purchase date it may be covered. As Guard said contact your closest Sundowner dealer.

I have a 2000 Valuelite. The coating over the floor was loose in a spot. I pealed the whole floor off in less than 10 minutes with my hands. A couple spots where the horses stand, had trapped urine under the coating and started corrosion. I cleaned the floor and coated with a thin moisture cured urethane (see Gard's bedliner posts). I haven't had a problem since. I pull my mats out about twice a year, and can actually see if the thin coating would be failing, which it hasn't yet.
My 2 cents is to remove the all thicker factory coating. Then either leave and rinse regular, or coat with a thin coating. There is nothing worse for your aluminum floor than a thick unbonded coating that traps the urine between it and the floor. My opinion is you're better off with nothing, at least you can clean it if you want, and see if it is corroding.
At least that has been my experience with my trailer.

Best I remember, Sundowner never warrantied the Suncoat on the floors. It was cheaper to spray the floors after doing the walls than to take time to tape it all off. Suncoat, rhinoliner, etc. doesn't stick well to aluminum

Just wanted everyone to know that Jim from MidWay Trailer Sales (a Sundowner dealer) from Illinois (not too far away from me) contacted me and offered to help with my floor problem. He has been awesome...a huge help. Can't say thanks enough. What a great dealership! I'm very impressed with their customer service...especially since I got the trailer from a different dealer. You don't see great service like this much anymore!
