We have a 3 horse with an 8 foot SW and finished LQ. We go to a lot of open and 4H shows and it will be a very rare occasion that we would sleep in the trailer. Currently I do not have a mattress in the nose and don't think I will add one, the kids like to sit up there and hang out, they might lay down or sit up. I am thinking of throwing a few pillows up there and not sure what else...anyone else leave their nose open? If so what do you have up there?

For us, one of the best parts of a GN ownership, is what you CAN put in the upper bunk area. The mattress is key. Having a place for a quick nap or overnight is most welcome. Extra storage in the form of cabinets is also important. Shirt closets on the sides and bulk storage closets on the nose are very welcome. Reading lights, book shelves, window blinds, TV, speakers, an insulated area are all what we desire.
We are just the opposite from you. We don't want it bare; we want it cozy, warm, inviting and functional.

Hmm...guess you could kind of make a "game room" out of it if you have young kids to entertain. TV, storage for games, etc. I bought mine to have someplace to sleep as well.

I don't necessarly want it to be bare, we don't have a mattress in our media nor do we have a mattress in our living room but that doesn't mean that both rooms aren't very cozy, warm, inviting, and functional.
The nose of the trailer is finsihed and does have cabinets, finished windows and a TV....just no mattress.

I must be slow this a.m.. The question is what? What do people do with the nose area if they don't have a mattress?
We have the cabinets and TV/DVD, etc, but also a great mattress....if the queen kitty cat wants to go up there to stare at us she has a good place to do it...On rare occassions kids have been in the trailer and we let em hang out up there, on a quilt thrown up there for their romping around and not a big deal either way...the mattress stays, kids can be deported!! he hee

why not use a futon mattress if you do not want a regular one..several throw pillows, attach a few cup holders around the edge for drinks to say secure..maybe a corner for games, DVD palyer is you want to wire it up..pretty much a "fun room" to hang out when you got time to kill...
OR if you show...hang some slide out racks along the roof to hang all them show cloths from...just pull them out and take down what you want...slide it back in...

Maybe a mattress would work even if we didn't sleep in it, it would be a good place to sit. I like things to stay neat and tidy so any ideas on how I could make the bed so that it didn't always look like a mess? Maybe just a nice sheet and no bedspread? Any other ideas?

costco sales the hide a bed mat($42) that folds up and makes a neat little stool. I have 2 of these under a king size memory foam mattress topper in my Bloomer. In a pinch, I could easily pull them out to make a extra bed in the mid tack. They are lite and easy to handle. When folded flat they measure 36 x 72 each. When folded they are 36 x 12
