I do want a place to sleep in the nose.  However, I'm not sure that I want a mattress in there so am asking for opinions. I have a good spare mattress. I also have one of those tempurpedic mattress pads that is thinner (not the full mattress thickness).

The height of that loft area is 35 to 36 inches.  As it is we can sit comfortably there without the roof being too short. If I place the mattress in there, I'm afraid that I will miss that.

Also when you put cabinets in there do you leave some space between the mattress and the cabinets or does it fit there pretty closely.

What do you typically store in those cabinets?

Thanks.

I did the 4" foam.  I mostly primative camp. So the foam is a step up from sleeping on the ground in a tent.

Thanks Painted Horse.  I guess it is a bit of a silly question and is a personal choice.  I tend to like the hard ground, too, so may not want to give the space for a full fledged mattress.  I do like the "floor" to ceiling height.  Maybe I'll try it and see if it takes up too much space and if it does, I'll take it out.

I'm not sure how to organize eveything yet either, but that may be trial and error too.

Thanks.

I tend to not place any horse items in my front area. All that stuff goes in the mid tack. So the front area is rain coats, chaps or chinks, helmets and hats. Up on the GN is my sleeping bags, blankets, pillows, extra cloths, I have a box of maps, guide books etc. Extra batters for the GPS, flashlights etc.
