Kiefer 3H Evolution - Tonight I installed 2 new 12V batteries.  I'm sure I hooked them up just like the old ones.  The powered the electric jack just fine but when I went inside, there was no power.  No lights, no pump, nothing.  Does anyone know what I should check?

I'd sure check your ground.

Make sure you have Red wires on the Positive and the Black wires on the neg.

Check you fuse and make sure you didn't blow it

The jack is usually hot wired directly to the battery. If you have two batteries, I assume you have a LQ? Many LQ conversion companies have interior reset button(s) that need to be pushed in after a power failure. Some are not located in  convenient locations and may take some searching to find. You may find one and miss a second. If you do have a LQ, the interior manufacturer's handbook may describe their locations. Also make sure that all the breakers on your panel are not tripped. Reset any that are. Check to see that your master switch is on as well.

I think you will find a simple remedy for your problem.

had a simular problem several months ago with my sundowner, people on here were very helpful. i had just replaced both batteries, all connectors. my trailer had two reset buttons, but i only had found one. after calling a sundowner dealer in tennesse he told me where the other reset was, sure enough i found it, reset it, and now have power. i wish the owners mannual was just a tad more informative. by the way----------- i worked on this for over a week.

good luck.

I have left a message for the dealer I bought it from but not heard back anything.  Attached are two pics, 1 of the panel and one of the door cover to the panel. Do they mean anything?  I searched every where that was mentioned and cannot find any kind of fuse or button.  There are no instructions with my trailer and the conversion co. is out of business.  There are many wires coming off of the batteries. One does go into the underneath front of the gooseneck but it must run behind the panelling because it does not appear to come out on the inside.  I did find a "Intelli-power 9200 series" Charge wizard under the fridge with the furnace.  Did not find any buttons.  Any other suggestions?

I did flip all the breakers also.

Sheryl, If your jack works, the batteries are good and hot. Somewhere, there will be a large master disconnect switch that isolates the batteries from the coach. It sounds as if it turned off. Likely, it is underneath the neck of the trailer somewhere. Please check it and let us know what you find. By the way- with the switch off they will not charge either....

Richard -

Thanks for your reply.  I was going to call your dealership today for help.  There is a master battery switch right on the battery box.  It is turned on.

Sheryl, If you look at the batteries, you should see one red wire that runs to the other battery. It will run + to +. There will be a second red wire that runs into the coach from there. In this wire, most likely lies your problem. There is likely either a circuit breaker, or a in-line fuse in this line that is "open". If it is a fuse, easy enough to check and replace as needed. A circuit breaker is supposed to reset itself after the surge goes away, but they have been know to fail. A basic 12V test light will let you check for power on it- and both sides should show hot. If both are not, you've found the problem. I don't know what type of unit you have, but most of the time these devices are in the battery box proper so that they're easy to access. Let me know what you find. By the way- the same test light trick can let you test the master switch also. On- means power on both sides.

Success!! Last night I went to the trailer with all the responses printed out.  I read while a friend poked around in the battery box.  We are not exactly sure what happened, but everything inside came on!

Thank you to all who replied!

I had jus the same problem last year and it drove me crazy.  In my LQ there is a fuse on the reastait converter that converts your electric current between AC and DC.  Find your reastait converter and I would bet you blew the fuse when you changed the batteries.  You may check the diagram on your trailer to find your converter. Mine was in a compartment under the refrigerator.  Good Luck.
