This story came out yesterday. I can't believe that anybody would do such a thing, this ordeal has made almost every paper in ND and SD. I work, rodeo, and grew up my ND been to SD for rodeo many times and have never heard of anything like this happening anywhere.
Badlands circuit member, Wendy Helweg's horse, Dually, was stolen from a pen in Fort Pierre after an amateur rodeo on July 4th. Dually has been found but is in very bad shape.
We are sad to report Dually was badly abused. Right now he is at a vet clinic in Tea, SD. Wendy woke to find him missing in the early morning. He was found in a barn by the sale barn with rope burns on his legs and his hind shoes missing. Our heart's go out to Wendy and we hope Dually can recover from his terrible ordeal.
Wendy and Dually had a great week as they won Dickinson, ND, placed at Killdeer, ND and are sitting in the top 10 in the Badlands circuit. This has been heart breaking for her.
An account is being set up to help with the vet costs . If anyone would like to help, it would very much be appreciated. Sindi Jandreau will get information about the account and updates on Dually as soon as possible.

When they catch them, just show them the same compassion they show that ladies horse.... It may be against the law to do someone, a person, that way..... But it ain't wrong. TCB.

We were at the PRCA rodeo in Bismarck, ND on the fourth, just down the road from Dickinson, but we've seen Wendy on Dually at other rodeos in the area. It's very difficult to believe that anyone whould do this to an animal of any kind. Unfortunately, the only real justice for the lowlife(s) who did this is illegal. They best turn themselves in to the authorities. My guess is that they'll be safer in police custody than if they "get found" out on the prairie.
