Advertising can be aggravating and expensive. I advertise my stallion under Horses for Stud and I get a call or two a day to see if he is really for sale...and have to explain that they are looking at the stallions standing for stud and that he is NOT FOR SALE. I had one girl email me, asking when she could come get him, I wrote her back and told her he was a stallion and up for stud services, she writes me back and ask me if he loads in the trailer? I wrote her back and highlighted that he was not for sale...I get another email that said she bought a horse but her friend wanted to buy him...thank God for the Delete Button.
I wish I could have bought him for $300 when he was 9months old...but he's paid for himself a few times and then some.
I dropped his stud fee this year since I was new to the state and nobody knows him, after taking him to a couple of saddle club practices, we picked up several breeding's. When you can buy a registered 2 year old for $300-$1000 it's hard to convince someone to spend a lot on stud fees.
Since I can't ride due to knee injury and thyroid surgery...I've had to hire someone to ride him, since nobody has really rode him but me...it took a few tries to find a trainer that wasn't heavy handed. We are going to do some reining...he's spinning pretty good now and will be doing some team penning, so I think next year will be a better year...I hope...if we both stay sound, when I get sound again!
I'm excited that he gets his first pair of sliders tomorrow and I get my neck stitches out...Wowww getting old sucks! and the things that turn me on these days is pathetic!!!!

I can understand your fusteration. I wrote out an add for my filly and said that even though she is 2 she has not been saddled or ridden. I don't like riding young horses, but the main reason I haven't even started this one is she is small. 14.1 and narrow. Her granddam, mother and older sister were all small until they hit 3 then they hit a growth spurt and filled out. Her granddam is 15.3, her dam is 15.2 (with a big ol but!) and her older sister (by 1yr) is already 15.2 1/2.
Even with it spelled out in the add people will call/email and ask if she is broke or the best yet, if she was safe for a child to ride. Who would look for a 2yr old for a child to ride?!

I personally would not put a child on a 2 year old horse. But I was accused of being an over protective Mother...It just amazes me, I got 2 calls this morning to see if he was still available...
