Pump comes on occasionally when not using the water. I can't leave the switch turned on. Can't find any water leaks. I wouldn't think this to be normal. Is it? Maybe I am wrong...

I assume you have a bath! Could be the water in the toilet. Watch inside to see if the water level changes.

Could be the pump itself losing pressure back to the tank. I would look extensively for leaks though. That could create a nightmare.

Any specific areas I may be overlooking for leaks?

I'll look at the toilet level.

If you check your system and find no leaks, it may be the pump itself. The pump has a built in check valve. If it is even slightly worn, the pressure can bleed off and the pump will restart if the switch is left on. Easiest and least expensive fix is to turn off the switch while it is not needed.

Hubby is going to use a seasnake on it to check for leaks in areas we can't find. We will check the valve......Thanks so much for the input.

We snaked it and found no water leaks. It must be the pump.....which I'd rather deal with than a leak.

if you have no line leaks go purchase a pump rebuild kit.  It's cheap and easy to rebuild.

I have one that does that too, I just turn the radio up and it fixes the problem!!!  Yeah, I know it's the check valve.
