I love it! So true and is the reason why I look at where items I purchase are made. We Try to buy american when ever possible, but it is getting very hard. Even Carhartts are now made in Mexico. It's a shame.

Did you count the stars and stripes? A friend bought one those also. We didn't think it looked right so we counted the stars, there were 48! Also 15 stripes, not 13!

Levi's 501 Jeans use to be Made in USA, but most production of these pants moved to Mexico & Guatemala as of 2001.

2005Maytag became the subject of a takeover battle between a private investment group in the United States. (Ripplewood), a three party group comprised of Blackstone, Baird and Haier Corporation, a Chinese appliance manufacturer, and the Whirlpool Corporation. On December 22, Maytag stockholders agreed to sell Maytag to Whirlpool, ending Maytag's 112-year history as an independent company.
2006On March 31, Whirlpool Corp. completed its acquisition of Maytag and began integrating the two appliance companies.
2007Clay Earl Jackson becomes the new Maytag repairman featured in advertising campaigns. During this year, Maytag also celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Pastime washing machine by releasing the Centennial Washer and Dryer pair.

Levis and Maytag/Whirlpool both fall into the same category as the "CHINESE TIRES"....

At Christmas, I tried to find toys at WalMart that were made in the USA.  There were none!

Every day, HUGE ships from China pull into American ports loaded with goods bound for American retailers.  And every day those ships return to China absolutely empty.  I could probably be a little more forgiving if the trade were a little more balanced.  But foreign marketers only take our money, not our goods.

The only things they are buying from us are our companies and our real estate.

Worried about American jobs?  Think twice before using the self scanning checkout at the grocery or sliding your card into the gas pump instead of going into the store.  Every time you self-serve, another cashier's hours get cut.

Somewhere on MSN last week there was a good article about things still made in America and for less. Wish I could remember some of the companies, but there were jeans, vehicles, quite a variety of items. They are there, but boy do you have to look hard. We are engineering our own death.

and still we refuse to fill up the Chinese ships with frozen paks of horse meat.....

as for me, I pick up an item, look at where it was made, and unless it is something I really really need, I put it back.....unless it was made in the USA

As difficult as it is, I am trying to do with less, mend more, make my own stuff......
