I bought a friend's old Keifer trailer to help her out and put some $$ into her pocket. I think I may have bought a bunch of problems, too. Most likely, this is usually how it works out for me when I try and help friends that need money. :o(
My son went to pick it up for me and he says it definitely needs a front axle, the current one is almost rusted in half to where the wheel was starting to tip, and that there are rusted areas that are almost completely rusted through to other side.
Is a trailer like this fixable to where it would be safe to haul my horse? The flooring is new, the wiring is new, and the tires are practically new.

Oh good, I thought I was in for a big bill.
And, hopefully the sides are weldable.
Once son gets it here, I will be able to look at it more closely and see what else it needs. Hopefully, not a lot. I was kind of in the market for a small stock trailer, and actually this one fit the mold. I don't travel with my horse much, just like to have a trailer in case of veterinary needs and to haul calves once in a while.

I purchased a used Trail-et a week ago that had major undercarriage problems like yours. The frame was rusted completely through and hanging by threads in some areas. I was told it could be completely "re-framed" for under $500. I don't think that included axles but this one's axles were good believe it or not. I ended up taking it back just because it scared me too much. However, it apparently can be done!
