I was wondering if you can "brighten" up a trailer with color (red.) As far as maintaining the exterior of a trailer, are there more negatives with a trailer with color?

Not sure what your question is asking. Colours can definitely change the appearance of trailers; graphics can make a modest trailer look impressive. A visit to a cruise or car show, will enable you to see the results of custom paint designs, and how a homely vehicle can be transformed into something extraordinary.

There is very little maintenance involved in the new urethane automotive paints. They are colour fast and quite durable. Red is always the colour that fades the fastest, and even this will last many years while being exposed to the sunlight.

Another consideration is the application of decals and wraps. They are made of varying qualities of materials, and the better ones can last over five years.

The last trailer I painted, was re shot in a two colour pattern that matched our truck. By later installing similar pin striping, the result was a satisfactory looking rig that was evenly coordinated.

Dark solid colours will increase the skin temperatures of the trailer. A white roof is the most practical and coolest. Graphic areas will have little effect.

The most expensive part of a custom paint job, is the preparation. If you can design, prepare, lay out and mask your trailer, the actual paint application is only a small part of the labour cost. Nothing will change your trailer's appearance better, or more impressively, than a well thought out paint scheme.

Looking at a red 2003 trailer, just curious. Thanks for the info.
