Wife has a little trouble reaching the trailer roof vents... She uses a little plasic, colapasable, stool that's only 10" high, that seems to do the trick but it's just another devise to have around when you only need it about 30 seconds at a time. Does anyone know of an extension, that would be hand held, to give that added reach that the shorter folks need, to open and/or close the trailer roof vents?? Something we could leave on a hanging on a hook, hanging on a bridle rack, in my pocket, dash of the pickup, etc. etc..... It would have to be something made from a fairly substantial material (steel, aluminum, titanium, carbon fiber, KL93, etc.)... Those vents aren't the easiest to flip open/closed.

We have 8' tall trailers. I am 5'8" and cannot reach my rooftop vents. So, I use a hay hook. I use the hook end to pull it open and the handle end to push it shut . We rarely use the hay hooks anymore for handling hay so this new job kind of makes them useful. I figured it out by trying a boot hook that was to small and deciding it would work perfect if it were only longer and a little more sturdier.

A really large pair of water pump (slip joint) pliers works very well. My wife and daughter find them quite effective.

I have a small fireplace poker that works very well and it stores easily.  Then we have it for around the campfire as well...it is the kind that has a hook with a little extra neck off it....so it works for opening as well as closing.
