Okay this ride was done on April 4 so Disneyland trip pops up in the paragraph in the beginning....................
Back from our family trip of a week at Disneyland. Wow! I haven't been down there in 26 years! Alot has changed, and makes me take alot where I live for granted, (meaning the open space, and clean, clear skies of the sierra nevada foothills of California, where I live.) We had a blast and Cody is wanting to go back once a year, so trip for him and moma, pop is still trying to get over the rides!!!!! LOL!!!!!
Anyways, got back and went for a photograph ride on the ranch yesterday (Sunday). The gold country of California is "truly" golden in color right now! The air was filled with verbena, lupines, and brightly colored poppies filled every crack and crevice up the hillsides and within the greenstone rocks.
Josie and I headed out and about for our ride......
First stop our secret hideaway.....................The picture stop! Please excuse Josie from her frompiness, her hair hasn't shedded out yet as it is still cool in the night time hours here in the foothills, and she was off for a week while I was playing at Disneyland, that's a long time for her!
Miss Du gets in for a pose too. "Hey, mom, which way did they go?"
Ahhhhh! The smell of the the flowers overtakes Du......
After the photo stop we ride up the old Wagon Road and into the Buck Field. Miss Du feels like moving some cattle.......
Okay yall, make it look like you're scared as I round you up okay?

After crossing the San Domingo one last time Josie, Du and I head on back after a 4 1/2 hour juant into the Buck Field and head on to the barn via the old Wagon Road that connected the ranch stage stop back in the 1800's to the old town of Dogtown.
We turn towards the north and ride up ontop of one of the many ridges the circle the lower section of the ranch. Looking back down on the back pond where our irrigtion water flows into in the summer.
Du decides to look for a creature to chase amongst the greenstone.
Another candid moment!
And ready, set..................RUN!!!!!!!
Our bee guys from Montana left Cody a little present. He has been wanting to care for some bees until they come back down in the fall, so here is the F3 Apiary!

Thanks for the great pics. I love your dog! Gotta love those aussie's. We haven't rode yet, just to many other things to take care of first. It must be nice to have such wonderful riding right out your back door.

Nice and green threre. We got some snow last Wednesday and suppose to get more this coming Thursday. It makes it hard to get very high up the mountain when it's so wet.
I have two daughters living in Orange County. And I just hate to go down to visit in that big city. I keep telling the girls they need to come visit me.

Another beautiful story. Your posts are always so enjoyable.
Jon, Know what you mean about citified children. My daughter lives in Chicago. Hate to go there, too many people and too many cars. But, our 2 month old granddaughter is just a grampa and gramma magnet.
They will be coming out to the country in June.12 27 javascript:smilie('27','');

I spent several years of my childhood in Orange County. My most vivid memories of that time are of the days that PE classes were cancelled because of smog. I understand that air quality has improved considerably. I sure hope so. Used to be so bad that you couldn't read the interstate signs until you were right on top of them with no time to react.

The air quality I don't think has changed from how you remember it. You couldn't even see the hills around, I didn't see a plane until it was coming out of a smog break and it was right ontop to our truck !
