How important is it to have a horse trailer-specific shop do routine maintenance (repacking bearings, checking breakawy, etc.)? A high volume RV/trailer place is much easier to get to than any of the horse specific places around where I am.Thanks!Peggy

I dont trust any of those yahoos to work on my equipment. But to answer your question; the components are basically the same. Any RV place should be able to take care of the routine stuff.

Most local auto shops can also do this type of routine maintenance, and in my area, are far less expensive per shop hour than the RV or trailer sales. With the auto dealers closing and laying off, you might be able to find an out of work mechanic.
The type of work that is needed for routine trailer maintenance, is well within the scope of a certified mechanic's skills.

Make sure you read the fine print when you take in your unit for service wherever you go. Our RV incurred over 5 thousand dollars damage sitting to be worked on at a nation wide service chain. Guess what---- I had to claim the accident on my insurance--even though it was sitting on a service centers lot staging area for service. The fine print revealed the no liability for damage while unit is being worked on. I am not here to bad mouth the RV dealer---- I learned to read the fine print and I hope you will listen to me over my situation. The Rv dealer did NOTHING to help us..........The only satisfaction that I get is throwing away their monthly circulars that are mailed to us!!! (that will teach them) LOLOL..........Hopeful for you, the best service will be the closest!! just please read read read...........before you give them the keys.........Paul
